RadiaSmart: reducing the effects of radiation

By Wednesday, March 27, 2019 0 No tags Permalink

It‘s not uncommon to see a child holding a smart phone or wireless electronic device when you’re out and about these days. In fact, it’s almost become the go-to tool for keeping little ones behaved and occupied whilst their parents do the shopping, run errands, or try to enjoy a quiet coffee.

Even at home, we don’t think twice about letting our little ones have some quiet iPad time to watch some children’s shows or a movie. But how much do we know about the effects of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from wireless technologies: smart phones included?

So too, every Mama to-be takes her own health and the health of our unborn baby growing inside very seriously. We try to eat a healthy diet cutting out foods that aren’t safe for pregnancy, keeping fit and doing whatever it takes to be as healthy as possible. But do you consider radiation as part of your health? Most of us don’t stop to think about it.

Mobile phones and wireless devices like laptops and tablets are now such an essential part of our everyday lives that we often don’t consider any side effects from their radiation…

Radiation – the facts

Radiation is energy travelling through space or materials, sometimes referred to as EMR (electromagnetic radiation). Mobile phones and smart devices use electromagnetic radiation to send and receive information. Every time the power is turned on; mobile phones emit radiation – even in stand-by mode.

Health experts believe that pregnant women and young children are more vulnerable to radiation from smart devices because their bodies and brains are still developing. Numerous studies (including research by Yale University^ in the US) have shown that high amounts of radiation is harmful to the body by damaging cells, body tissues and DNA.

Effects from radiation

But how serious is the risk from radiation and what does the research suggest?

Australian Radiation Protection Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the government agency which sets the standard limits for human exposure to radiation.  ARPANSA’s fact sheet 14 “How to reduce exposure from mobile phones and other wireless devices” (June 2013) states:

“The technology is very new and it’s impossible to be completely sure there isn’t some risk.  This is particularly true for children where there is little research evidence.”^^

Introducing: RadiaSmart

After researching electromagnetic radiation, RadiaSmart owner Kristin Irwanto became more aware of the risks and health impacts of everyday radiation emitted by smart phones, computers, wireless towers and powerlines and wanted to do something about it.

Herself a mother of three small children, Kristin says she and her partner, an environmental engineer, wanted to create an awareness of everyday radiation and the impacts on our health, so people can make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

“When I was pregnant with my first child, I started to become more aware of electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones, iPads and laptops. I was working full time as a Computer System Support and I was surrounded with radiation-emitting devices everyday,” Kristin says.

“Like many mums, I want to provide the best environment for my baby, (so I) started to wonder what are the risks and health impacts for pregnant women and families in the long term,”

organic blanket All the Organic Blankets can be used as radiation shielding for pregnancy and after your baby is born to offer them extra protection.

In modern society, non-ionizing radiation is everywhere, so blocking it completely is impossible, but experts do agree that products like Radia Smart may provide at least partial blockage from some of it.^^

How Does Radia Smart Work?

The radiation shielding fabric used in RadiaSmart products is highly conductive silver fabric which neutralises incoming electromagnetic waves, cancelling out the ambient radiation and reducing your exposure to radiation. This fabric provides 99.9% shielding effectiveness against radiation from mobile phones, laptops, tablets and other devices (containing non-ionising radiation).

It’s also worth mentioning that a healthy baby is due to a lot of factors, including healthy parents with healthy diets, the mama to-be resting whenever you need and getting a good night’s sleep, maintaining low stress levels, and cutting back on mobile phone and WiFi use as much as possible.

The best-seller from the RadisSmart range is the Organic Blanket, made with 100% Organic Cotton, extra large and lovely and soft – perfect for curling up on the couch with your computer or iPad on your lap. A good quality baby blanket is an essential for any nursery, so the RadiaSmart Organic Shielding Blanket is ideal to use after your baby is born so you can still use your devices with some peace of mind. You can use it as a play mat, as a blanket for your baby or even as a swaddle wrap.
