From the minute you become a parent, the health and safety of your newborn baby is always on your mind. Never before have you realised how worried and anxious you could become about someone else’s well-being until you have a baby. This tiny, precious human being is completely reliant on you, and it’s a huge responsibility!
For the first 12 weeks of life, newborns need a lot of sleep – up to 18 hours a day. They do so much growing and developing in those first three months that they really only wake to feed, burp, then it’s back to sleep again. It becomes impossible to watch them all the time. And is even harder overnight when you and your partner need to sleep as well.
This is precisely the problem that Mama Sarah Amritt discovered when her second baby daughter was born. Already a mother of one, Sarah was exhausted from getting up constantly to check on her newborn daughter in her bassinet, who shifted around a lot. A quiet sleeper, her newborn baby girl made Sarah and her husband, Omar, paranoid that she had either stopped breathing or had her face against the side of her bassinet.
“I never had this issue with my first born (who had) colic as a baby, and cried so much. She would never sleep, and never gave me the time to worry about her… she made sure I knew she was OK,” Sarah said.
Wanting to put her nerves to rest, Sarah searched the marketplace for a mirror to attach to her bassinet, but found nothing suitable, so decided to design their own solution, and the Omie View Bassinet Mirror was created.
The first product of its kind, the Omie View Bassinet Mirror is a remote-controlled mirror that clips to the side of your baby’s bassinet to allow caregivers the ability to see an infant without having to go over and look inside it.
It allows you to remotely adjust the mirror’s angle to provide a better range of view of their baby inside the bassinet, while not having to sit or stand up every time you want to check on your baby. This is especially helpful for new mothers recovering from childbirth or a C-section.

The remote also allows you to turn on a dim LED light on the mirror that is perfect for dark rooms – providing enough light for you to check on your baby, but not so bright as to wake them up. And the Omie View is as mobile as your bassinet; you can take it with you on holidays or to Grandma’s house, or move it around wherever you take your bassinet. It’s easily adjustable as needed with the remote control, as many times as you need to.

Sarah and Omar’s goal with the Omie View is to help prevent SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) often caused by babies rolling to on to their tummy in their bassinets. The Omie View mirror gives parents some peace of mind from the risks of SIDS by allowing them to see their baby in their bassinet.
The large clip on the Omie View ensures it can fit onto the side of any brand or size of bassinet or play pen.

The product will be available in a soft beige color that is gender neutral and perfect any nursery.
The Omie View Bassinet Mirror is available now for pre-order via their website at www.omieview.com

As soon as I read this blog, I thought “this would be absolutely perfect to win.” My husband and I just celebrated our first year of marriage, and want to start trying to conceive sometime over the summer. This mirror would arrive before the baby would come, and give me such piece of mind as a first time mommy. Thankful for what y’all do!

My son sleeps on the other side of our room. I’d love to see him from our bed without walking over – he always hears me and wakes up!
