One of the most popular, and prettiest themes for a Baby Shower is a relaxed Garden Party with a vintage feel. Imagine wooden cartons of floral arrangements, rustic furniture, mason jars filled with striped straws while the expecting mother enjoys her special day with her closest family and friends.
With Spring just over a month away, now is the time to start planning for your Baby Shower Garden Party.
Here are some of the cutest ways to stick with the theme:
1. The Invitation
Before the main delivery arrives, send a little delivery to your guests! Your Baby Shower invitation should set the scene for the day, to let your guests know what to expect and dress accordingly. Thick paper invitations with floral print, twine and serif font allude vintage charm and show a lot of thought and care has gone into the day. Your guests will be so excited to receive something so carefully crafted in the mail.
2. The Setting
A Garden Party needs a place for guests to relax amongst one another, mingle, enjoy food and drinks and celebrate the mother-to-be. This space can be easily set-up using large picnic or outdoor rugs. Use crates as tables or pack several picnic baskets full of food and drink for the guests to share amongst themselves. Oversized cushions in complementary colours and fabrics make the space beautiful and inviting.
If sitting on the ground isn’t your style, Brentwood chairs can be hired from party hire places for a great price and they fit perfectly with the theme. Simply add in a rectangular buffet or card table with a vintage lace table cloth for the food, drinks and gifts.
Despite its name, a Garden Party-theme can also be set-up indoors. Use all the same decorations and furniture, add plenty or flowers around the table and you can even go as far as hiring squares of artificial grass for the ground or walls.
3. The Spread
Food and beverages are easy to keep within the Garden Party theme. Popular ideas include cheese plates, mini quiches, triangular cut sandwiches and fresh cut fruit. Decorative platters or cake stands can be picked up for reasonable prices at op shops or use long wooden chopping boards for a more rustic look. Jugs of ice tea served in mason jars or decorative tea cups add the perfect finishing touch.
Lolly buffets in oversized jars and vases are a great way to indulge the sweet tooth. Not only do they add to the decoration, you can fill them with blue or pink lollies to celebrate the baby’s gender – or collection of colours if you’re keeping it a surprise.
